I have a Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 External Drive Enclosure Kit. I have a Seagate ST380020A 80GB hard drive from a 'failed' pc that I have installed in the enclosure. The hard drive is not responding - I assume the hard drive has failed?
The jumper on the Hard Drive as to be set to MASTER for the comp to see it. You then may have to right click on My Computer Manage\Disc Management
I take it you mean the drive is not recognised in windows (My Computer)Is it recognised in disk management ?Does the drive spin, once connected...is it receiving power ?
woodchip...i must type quicker :-))
You and me both
How do I set the Jumper on the Hard Drive?
Correct - the drive is not recognised in windows!
If you look at the edge of the drive you will see pins two will most likely have a plastic jumper on them. Look at the top of the drive for a small diagram of the pins it will say MS for master. The jumper needs to be on these pins
The jumper is set for a Master or Single drive.
What OS are you running? is it XP as it as to load Drivers for the Drive. Or if it's some other You need to load the drivers first from disc before you plug the drive in.
Running XP Home.Reads Maxtor 40GB drive fine from an old Packard Bell.Trying to recover files from a deceased Sony pc - but Seagate 80GB drive not recoognised?
