hard drive gb limit

i am looking at buying a new hitachi 7k250 160GB
hard drive but my present hard drive is less than 30gb.
i am told there is a problem with some bios cannot read above 30gb or above 137gb

i have a gigabyte 7vaxp with award bios f10

please help

Hears a suggestion, go to Motherboard Site click on motherboard BIOS downloads check each update for your board to see if any mention Hard Drive update support.

PS while there check the BIOS updates for your board, and then check what you have installed it should say at boot up if you have got a DOS screen when it boots

click here board is fairly modern and bios updates dont state click here

i dont know much about the limit of windows xp but you may find some good info click here towards the bottom of the page (dont know how up to date this is though)

condsider two 80gb drives maybe to be sure.

i sent an email to gigabyte and they responded telling me my board will have no problems with a 160gb hard drive
