i have a 40 gig hard drive in 2 partitions of 20 gig. i have only 6 gig remaining on the first partition and at the present time i have nothing stored on the second partition. How can i move programmes to the second partition. i was told that all prgrammes have to be on the main partition. hope you can understand wat ive put down.

What you were told is just not true. Programmes can be on any partition. There are one or two exceptions that insist on being installed to C: but that is only because the writer of the prog is either not competent enough or not polite enough to allow you to choose where you put them. Next time you install a prog just alter the install folder to D: during the process.
