Hard Drive Capacity

Probably a basic question, but would appreciate some reassurance from yee good folk on here :-)

Just purchased a Packard Bell laptop - which in the advertised specs states a 60GB HDD

When I go into "My Computer" it states total capacity as 51GB and available capacity (obviously after OS & Installed software) as 48GB

Is this correct for a 60GB HDD? or have I been short-changed?

When I go into my main PC and access the properties for my 80GB HDD is states total capacity as 80GB??

You may well find there is a hidden partition on the hard drive with all necessary software for reinstalling windows and that is probably where the space has gone.

Start, right click my computer (not left click), manage, then disc management will show if there are used partitions.
