hard drive

As sad as it may seem, but i was watching my computer boot up and noticed that my only hard drive was set to Slave, worked o.k and have now set it to master. Only need to know if that would have affected performance of my p.c.

As it is your only hard drive, I doubt that performance would have been affected, but it is best to have it set as Master anyway.

One point in the link that is not entirely clear.

If only one drive is on an IDE cable, it should always be attached to the end connector. This is to minimise electrical "noise" being picked up on the unconnected end piece of cable - as it acts as an aerial.

This has nothing to do with where Master and Slave are on the cable - if there's two drives, set with Master and Slave jumpers, they can be in either position on the cable.

Only when using both drives with Cable Select does the cable itself determine that the end drive is the Master and the drive on the middle connector is the Slave.
