Hard disk problems

  EBS 22:24 25 Jan 2008

I'm having major problems with my pc.

It's seems to freeze and the only way out is to turn it off. Then when i reboot i get the following error:

disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter

I then can't get my pc to reboot, but it i leave it turned off for about 10-15 mins and try again it loads fine.

What has happened? is it fixable? I haven't install any new software recently, and the only things i have installed in the last few months are the windows updates when they say they need installing.

Any help or advice would be very grateful.

Could be a cooling problem? That may explain why it works when its been switched off for 15 mins...or your HDD is on the way out.

how do i get it into safe mode?

If it is a cooling problem, is it just a case of buying a new fan? is there anyway to test this?!

Keep tapping F8 or F5 as the computer is starting up.

Then right click on C:\ Properties\Tools Disc Checker
