hard disk problem

i have installed 7GB hard disk in my computer. when I switch on my computer it is able to detect the hard disk. But the problem is that it is not able to boot from the hard disk. it isgiving me this error message:
PRIMARY MASTER HARD DISK ERROR PRESS f1 TO RESUME.
when i press F1 it is not responding.
how can i solve this problem?

double check the connections to the drive it could be the ribbon cable the wrong way round. Check what the jumpers are set at if the master it should be at the end of the ribbon cable and be set to either master or cable select.

Is this disc formatted? Does it have an Operating System on it?

Where did you get it from? 7gb seems a strange capacity to me.
