a friends hard disk is failing to be recognised when they are trying to boot up. it is a mesh system and when they try to use the recovery disk it goes through part of the process but then comes up with the error message that it may damage the computer and then restarts.

Try reseating the Ribbon cable on the Drive and mobo

PS it jus may need a new ribbon or if there is a spare plug on the cable try that

it is recognised in the bios but when the system tries to boot it comes up with primary drive not there

I would check the ribbon cable
