Recovery Console On Start-up ?

D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

(where D: is your Cdrom)

Put's the console at the start during boot up and is really very handy for troubleshooting when locked out of windows ect.

Could be used maliciously if you have an enemy.

Or someone trying to have a go at the commands.

Think about it...

Yes, but the average home user who has nothing to lose can use it easily enough. We seem to be in a totally paranoid world were everyone thinks they are being hacked or are gonna get hacked, common sense applies.

If someone steals your PC, it won't matter what passwords or services you have in place, it won't bring the pc back.

This recovery console is mearly a help to people and if they use it, I'm sure they will be more than aware of it's implications.

If someone wants to attack your pc and they are good enough, then it won't matter what services you have in place, so I certainly would not regard it as a security risk when people know what a recovery console is for.
