Grphics Card Upgrade - Opinions welcome

I posted on here a few weeks ago after buying a 9800 pro to replace my 9600 grpahics card as its struggling with BF2!! Unfortuantly the card had a fault and Ebuyer have refunded my money without it ever playing a frame!!

Im now using this opportunity to re evaulate my choices, im not intrested in the latest beast for £350!! Just want a good noticable improvemnet from my 9600, is the 9800 pro the way to go or something like an X700 pro?? Not sure how the new gen cards compare to the old ones!!

a X800 GTO is a fair price 120 pound at ebuyer for pci-e not sure about AGP, graphics would be considerably better that the 9600 or the 9800. i wouldn't spend more than 150. If you want to use nvidia a 6600Gt for 120 would also be good, then you have the added bonus of being able to go SLI in the future

Hi Thought i would answer this one as i have a 9880pro.128m. its not a bad card but i dont play games, I originally had a voodoo 3000 and my opinion of that card was the graphics were a lot better.

LOL...i had a Voodoo 3000 about 10 years ago!! I know the 9800 pro was the 'Daddy' of graphics cards a few years ago, more just wanted to know whether the mid range new gen cards were better than the top end old gen cards?
