Graphics programs misbehaving

  jack 09:56 30 Oct 2004

A recent string from me about graphics apps disappearing, whilst working , suggested I use
in Start/Run sfc /scannow.
This I did, with re response from the system that I insert my XP Pro disk.
This I also did.
The system then said 'not that disk' SP1 disk.
After scratching around MS I found and downloaded SP1A .
I came down as a self extract CAB.
In it went.
Run SFC scannow
and it is still asking for the SP1 disk.
I wonder then if it were apossible to present an 'unpacked'disk
But it seems self unpucking CAB.s direct themselves to 'C' without the option.

Meanwhile most of the Graphics progs have sorted except for MGI photosuite 4, which I uninstalled and re installed countless times now and have run the compatability routine, all so far without the desired result.
Any more thoughts chaps?

Curiouser and curiouser
Thanx Gongoozler for the ps4 forum link will have a go.
But this is more to do with the system[XP Pro] I feel.
This time around I used the programs unistaller
to take it out to have another go.
The uninstaller invokes the normal uninstall shield.
This told me that the programs was installed in MAY and as certain elements were missing the uninstall would not continue.
I did a Start/Search no program located.
I did a reg Edit - No program located.
Minutes ago I right clicked the short cut,/opened properties/ clicked a couple of settings/all in the interest of science you understand.
Started the icon, program loaded, this time, it allowed the picture to load with out going away,it also allowed an operation to be started, but then the busy icon came up, and the machine froze awhile ,eventually the image reverted to post modification mode.
However, here is the interersting bit, not withstanding Uninstall/Search/Regedit denial, it is all there in the programs folder.
