The speed of your processor, how much memory you have, whether your PC has onboard graphics or not and whether it has an AGP slot or a PCI Express slot and operating system.

i have had a good look around have now decided on the ati x800gto2 256mb pcie as this seems to fit the bill very well, especially as it has 16 pipelines already open therefore will not void my warrenty by overclocking.cheapest i can find it for is-£117.42 from ebuyer
if anyone has conscerns i should consider pls advise.

thanks 007al,
but from what i can gather(very limited knowledge) the 512mb card doesnot have 16 pipelines just the 12 and i dont think this is onclockable.also i dont think it has the same core as the much more expensive x850xt pe which the gto2 has,
please correct me if i am wrong,

Couldnt find the GTO2 with 16 pipelines,do you have a link?
The nvidia 6800GS,that sort of took the place of the GT,has 12 pipelines, compared to the GT`s 16,and is as fast. The 6600 512MB is supposed to be as fast as the 6600GT.I dont know much about ATI cards,as they`ve been lagging until recently,so i dont know if they work out the same way
