Graphics card problem or Trojan?

  johnpa 17:47 09 Jul 2003

My PC - Win98SE, Athlon800, Nvidia TNT Riva64, has developed a problem. Display has shadows extending horizontally across the screen from all black text or graphics. Have the lastest drivers. Tested another display on PC but same problem. Also did full system scan and Norton detected Deltree.trojan and quaranteend file Delete.bat located in Windows/Image/Tools. Is this the cause of the problem or are these two separate events and I just need a new graphics card. Secondly as Norton cannt repair Delete.dat, do I need it and how would I find a replacement - its not on the Windows CD?. Opinions please - many thanks

I would suggest deleting the .bat file, it is infected with the virus, there is no point repairing a virus file anyway, all it has is a virus in it.

Run this, it will scan your system from all viruses and fix them for you, you must download the Active X first though but it is worthwile>>>>>>>

Regarding the Graphics, there is a setting in XP for shaddows under text.

In effects.

I had this - the more text you type the darker the bands get.

In my case a new graphics card cured it.

Update the drivers?

Must be a new Graphics card then? You could try it?
