the motherboard has a AGP Connector fitted with
4 MB Graphics Performance Accelerator Module
(AIMM)176755-001 192012-001 T4
as there are spare pci slots i have bought ( he said it would work) a NVIDIA tnt2 32mb pci card
when I put it in the machine I get a flashing keyboard (caps lock) which means : no video (the vga card (aimm ) is not seated or is missing)
I have very little knowledge of this machine
Am I wasting my time trying to do something that cant be done or do i just need help ?

"he said it would work"

As you bought it on this basis - why not ask *him* how to make it work - the point being that if it can't be made to work then you can at least ask for your money back.

Have you tried with the AIMM in and out?

Have you looked in the BIOS for a setting which disables the AIMM?

Have you asked Compaq - there support is very good usually.

well yes - i can do those things but before i do
someone may be able to save me the time and trouble if the answer is "cant be done - 4mb is all you get"
the "aimm" module rises out of the motherboard and is held in a green plastic clip that i can not quite see how it comes out.

the guy who sold me the pci card obviously thought "have pci slot - can take card" its a car journey and a couple of hours to take it to him

if i dont get an answer tonight i can get on to compaq tomorrow
