Graphics Card problem

I have a problem with my graphics card in that there are vertical yellow bars on the monitor. Some months ago I was advised to rub an eraser on the gold connections. This did the trick but it has returned and this is not working. Does this suggest I need a new card and if so how do I determine what I have and what would be a suitable replacement.

It could be the PCI-slot thats dirty.

Can you get some canned air and clean it out?

If this does not work, it could be a dodgy card.
