up-grade blues

  superfluke 06:19 05 Feb 2006

I've just up-graded with new PC case with psu, bundled motherboard and hard drive. All went well until my monitor display got smaller and desk top icons and such-like reduced to about half size. System still seems to work but everything on-screen is much smaller. How can I restore my status quo? Being an old fart, I tend to make errors and not know how to remedy them, so I'd greatly appreciate someones help.

As well as my other on screen troubles, I've got no sound either, although 5.1 channel AC97 (Realtek)is supposed to be onboard. Any ideas?

Try reinstalling the drivers for your graphics and sound cards.

Right click on desktop and choose properties; then settings, screen resolution and try a few of them until you get one that fits.

Make sure your sound is on in the BIOS.

I think you haven't installed the motherboard drivers which are on a disk you should have got with your motherboard.
