Got AVG and Zonealarm, do I need antispyware?

  dmm27 20:45 03 Jan 2007

I currently have the free versions of AVG and Zonealarm installed on my PC, running XP.

Do I need any sort of antispyware, or will what ZA and AVG suffice?

It is generally recommended that you only have one antivirus protection running on a PC. AVG will provide this. ZA provides adequate antispyware protection for most users.

namtas ZA is a firewall not an antispyware prog..

Are any of the free ones the sort that then want some cash to actually remove anything they find?

Strawballs and namtas, you seem to disagree....could either of you expand on your answers??

ZA pro provides antispywae aswellas firewall but you have to pay

ZA free is just firewall

dmm27 the progs listed are all free and regarded among most people on this forum to be the best around most are small unassuming non-resourse hugging progs that do what they are supposed to do with no hidden fees regarding removal once you have scanned.
They are all regularly updated and an asset to anybodys setup, good luck..

I have AVG and ZoneAlarm. I used to use a few Antispyware products but can't be bothered now as it never used to find anything other than tracking cookies. I use them so that my ISP won't get upset with me.

I use common sense and don't go on any potentially dodgy sites and run AVG roughly once a week. In 8 years it's never found anything.

Zonealarm Pro does have anti-spyware protection ,as I have it.
