Google virtual hard disk?

  ethelene 11:51 24 Apr 2005

I've been told that Google provides a 'virtual hard disk' suitable for keeping back ups of my hard disks.

Is this true? Has anyone experience, advice or opinions on this?

Many thanks.

Googles mail service will offer 2Gb of storage and will be classed as a virtual disk. Theya re considering upping it to 10GB for storage. A 40Gb USB HD can be bought for £50 and is a much better method of storing stuff. Also DVDs are less than 20p each and will store 5Gbs each. Anyone using an online storage facility in this day and age needs their head examined IMHO.

They don't support that but it can be used for that, but how long remains a mystery.

Thanks for your prompt answer gandalf. I already use online storage for photos and so on but take on board how cheap physical storage is.

I'd just never heard of it and thought it might be useful.
