google logging web page visits

does anyone else think that google displaying what pages we have viewd to be a little annoying? how do i turn it off? everytime i do a search in google, next to the results in grey it says 3 visits or something, even when u clear the history it remains!!!

Sounds like you have installed Google desktop, simply uninstall it and all will be well.

i dont have google dsktop, or any google products, unless its stored as an add on somewhere

but its not in the list when i go to add remove programmes

The other thing it could be is a cookie has been stored by Google, try clearing the cookies and see if that gets rid of the problem.

it cant be a cookie though becuase the thing is that wehn i delete the browser history in ie7 i go for the delete all which removes cookies temp files history passwords and temp files

so in this case it cant be can it?
