Google History

This is probably an easy one - how do I get rid of previous searches in the Google search box - An annoying list of everything that I have searched for opens up when I click in the box?

tools - options - clear history - delete files and tick offline also - delete cookies...

Tried that but the list is still there!

Is this the history in the Google Toolbar?

The option you need to untick in the Google Toolbar Options>Search is "Save the search history across browser sessions".

That does not remove the history instantly but deletes it when you close IE or whatever browser you are using.

Next time you open your browser the Google search history will be clear.

The other thing is to click the little arrow to the right of the word Google in the Google toolbar and click on "Clear seach history" which should remove all current search items without closing the browser.

I'm using "Plain" Google, not Google Toolbar.

Tools > Internet Options > Content > Auto Complete > Clear forms

And also uncheck the boxes you want, such as 'forms' if you don't want it to try and second guess your google search.
