Google Chrome - not recognised as UK

I've just tried Google Chrome to listen to the England v Croatia game on the BBC website. I'm told the commentary is only available in the UK and not my region (which is the Wirral). However IE7 does recognise I'm in the UK and everything plays as it should. Odd?

Strange because it is normally your IP address which determines whether or not you can access UK-only material. The browser you use shouldn't make any difference, you just need to be connected with a UK based ISP.

I wonder if Chrome uses a proxy server?

I have managed very well to watch old programs on the BBC Iplayer via the BBC website. Might it be different if you were trying to watch live football?

Chrome will allow me to watch BBC Video clips on the BBC site but last night it refused to allow me to listen to the 5 LIVE audio commentary that was streamed on the site. The BBC site said I wasn't in the correct Region (ie I wasn't in the UK). If I used IE7 the problem disappeared.
