Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.

Select Bookmarks.

Select Bookmark manager.

Click the Organise menu in the manager.

Select Export bookmarks. Chrome will export your bookmarks as a HTML file, which you can then import into another browser.

Alternatively, find the Bookmarks file (it is just named Bookmarks) that Chrome uses and back it up.

It is usually at: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

Once you've reinstalled Chrome you can go to the same location and just copy the file back (over the existing default one).

However if you synchronise Chrome with the online Google service, when you reinstall Chrome on the fresh build it shouuld re-sync automatically. But it certainly would not do any harm to create your own backup as above.

If you want to back up cookies - I always do, as it makes life much simpler - Batch's approach backs those up along with bookmarks.

opened hidden folders ok, followed the link in your post, the bookmarks in the default folder would not open so have saved the default folder. so will paste in in the new google and delete or rename the freshinly installed default.
