Good quality DVD drive required

  adam32 01:23 02 Feb 2011

I may need to replace my DVD writer, which seems to be failing after less than a year. It's an NEC model, which replaced an Asus that was even worse.

I know that these devices are built down to a price (they must be to retail for £20), but are there any stand-out brands that are better built, smoother/quieter, and more reliable than the majority?

Any suggestions, please folks?

I was hoping for forum members' recommendations; not a review website.

I have been using a Pioneer DVD RW for about 3 years with no problem, however I may be lucky or it could be a good make.

It all depends how much you use it. If you use it several hours a day, it will deteriate faster than one that is only used a few times a week.

If you are a heave user and it lasts a year, you have done well.

The reveiw sites are the best general guide you will get.

I would recommend Samsung they can be picked up for £14 so not a big outlay

Thanks. I'll look at the Pioneer option.
