It will be supported till the end of the year. click here Hopefully 8 will be trouble free by then.

I just downloaded 8.0 on to a friend's XP computer.

Are you telling me it's going to give trouble?

  Pineman100 17:50 05 May 2008

I just found chrisjohn's thread about AVG 8 a bit lower down.

I've only had it running for one day, but so far I haven't come across any problems. But I loaded it on to a freshly reformatted and reinstalled computer. I wonder whether it's the upgrade process that could be giving trouble?

Could it be the company selling Spysweeper have objected to AVG's advice to remove it when installing version 8?

I know many of you have had bother with AVG 8 but I installed it from day one and it has worked fine with no problems at all in any aspect. It was upgraded from 7.5. Like all these things, some users have problems, others are OK. Worth a try but go back to 7.5 if needs be.

Might be worth differentiating which AVG you are posting about, so that no-one is confused about which is causing most bother. There are two different products :-

AVG 8.0 - the bought and licensed product.
AVGFree 8.0 - the free version.

I updated to AVG 8 in January, and have had no issues with it at all.

I hadn't seen that thread. There seems to be a mixture of experiences (as is often the case with software).

As I said above, I've just done a complete hard drive reformat on a friend's machine, reinstalled XP SP1, installed SP3, installed AVG Free 8.0 and Zone Alarm. No problems so far.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
