Gigabit ethernet network card...please explain

  ross_mcculloch 12:17 03 Jan 2008

I'm in the process of buying a new PC, a gigabit ethernet network card is one of the options. What exactly will it do and will it speed up my internet experience?

It means the card supports 1000Mbps Ethernet (normally 100Mbps) - you won't notice any difference as far as the 'net is concerned - only when you run the machine as part of a network with other Gigabit devices.
