Getting Media Player Classic in the Programs list

I recently downloaded Media Player Classic in a zip file. I can get the player up and running by clicking on an .exe file, but for some reason, the program doesn't appear in the list of programs that you get by clicking the start button. This also means that I can't set MPC as my default media player for rm, wmv and other media types. Any ideas?

I would have thought it gave these options during install/setup. Try reinstalling.

There is no set-up process as double-click on the .exe icon, and the player comes straight up.

Right click MPC, create shortcut, drag shortcut to the start menu (right click on any folder in the start menu and select Explore)
