I saw things in Currys this afternoon and looking at the connect up plans came to look at my ADSL modem.there is only one LAN socket and the Computer has only one LAN socket
I did see a PCI card of LAN sockets - assuming there is a slot available is this the way or is there a LAN hub - like an external USB hub.

ADSL modem connected to phone line 1 ethernet cable to mains plug

second mains plug to first PC

third main plug to Laptop by TV

swap modem for adsl modem router 1 cable to mains plug 1 to PC

second mains plug to laptop by TV

really depends on cost of extra mains plug compared with cost of new adsl modem router

I am an absolute convert to Homeplugs; they are quick and easy and work - instant broadband in any room in the house. Buy a pair to start with then, as [or if] you need them, buy extra ones. For each extra one, just plug it into any socket, press the little button and they should have paired with the other adaptors within 15 secs. Plug a NAS into your router and hey, presto, you also have networked storage available from any room in the house.
