Hi,
I want to get my Hi-Fi speakers to play on the laptop but am having a bit of trouble. The speakers run off a standard 2 core wire and the laptop has a 3.5mm headphone socket - Great! Anyways, I have got a 3.5mm to 2 RCA converter for turning the headphone socket into red and white (R+L) audio. Now the trouble part. I need something that will convert 2 RCA sockets into speaker wire. Any suggestions welcome. I have done a diagram to ease the situation a little. click here

Many Thanks in advance

As output from laptop is too small to operate speakers of any kind.

You need to go through an amplifier first, as output is only equivalent of a pre amp output.

However leads with jack in and phono out are freely and cheaply available from Maplins or most friendly local computer stores.
As regard speaker wire, any twin cable will be OK.

Again you can purchase correct cable easily with whatever ends you want and cheaply from local HI-FI or computer store, or Maplins.
Hope this helps.
