Hi, I was planning to get a GeForce 4 MX440 or GeForce 3 sometime since I wanted to install my current GeForce 2 MX 32MB into my AMD K6-2 500MHz, 128MB SDRAM and then install a new one into my AMD Duron 1.3GHz, 256MB SDRAM. I didn't want to spend much on a GeForce4 Ti but then I saw this card from Leadtek for a stupendous low price of £58.70 when I logged into ebuyer! Surely there must be a catch or something? It's priced the same as most of the GeForce4 MX440s I have seen on ebuyer and surely I should go with this card instead?
So I would be totally stupid to get the GF4 MX440 or GF3 over this card? I don't mind it being the OEM version since I can just download the latest detonator drivers from nvidia and as long as there is suitable packaging. OK, I'm going to place my order now!
Yeah, plaese let us know how it goes. I am thinking of buying one for my son who is into games. At present he is using a Geforce 4 440MX 128mb. Eould the Ti4200 with64mb be much better? Any suggestions appreciated.
depending on his cpu mother board setup as long as its quite a recent machine see link click here then he should see great results upgrading to that maching if not and he has an older machine then he might not see any difference see link again click here
Well, I already indicated in my original post that currently have an AMD Duron 1.3Ghz with 256MB PC133 SDRAM but I can easily upgrade that to an AMD XP 2000+ with 512MB PC2100 DDRRAM later. I know that the GeForce4 MX would suit better but I would be wasting a great chance to get a GeForce4 Ti4200 while it is priced cheaper than most GeForce4 MXs.
OK, I have just gone back on Ebuyer and when I click on the product, it says 'Sorry, this product is currently unavailable / discontinued.'. Should I be worried since I once heard stories about products being wrongly priced on websites and customers were told to either pay the real price or forget it? It could be a possibility since I didn't think the GeForce4 Ti4200 would be priced so low! Not even anywhere cheaper than £100. If they did make a mistake on the website, would I still be able to claim it for the price mentioned on the site?
However, it does say 'ordered on request (89 days)' as well so I could be worrying about nothing since there were about 125 in stock last night at 3am and I amnot surprised that it was bought up so quickly once the news got around! Good thing I got mine last night! So then, what does everyone think? Is it a mistake with the pricing or is it really just out of stock and in huge demand?
