Gateway ML3108b Laptop Can I upgrade Harddrive?

i.e. can I take out my present harddrive with vista Home Prem' on it and keep it, may be for the future...? And then put in a new, perhaps larger than 60GB, HHD and install XP Pro on it .
Will there be any drive computability problems with the hardware of this notebook and XP Pro? gateway are not much help here at all just saying if I remove vista my guarantee is void.

It should read 'compatability' problems.

You shouldn't have a problem with that. Yours is a click here
Make sure the new hard drive is 7200rpm with a large cache, 8Mb or 16Mb.

This coupled with the ram, will really speed up your system.

paul€ you are a total star.

Sorry to sound like a total blond but have you any links to sites where I might get a good deal on such a hard drive?

This should meet your needs for the faster, top performance drive click here.

A 5400rpm drive which is slightly faster and larger than the one installed on your laptop but will be slower than the 7200rpm drive above is a click here which is a lot cheaper.

Both will give better performance over your current drive. The 7200 would be the best, by far, of the two.
