I have a toshiba satellite pro l300-1ad
genuine intel CPU 575 @ 2.00ghz
1gb ram
mobile intel 4 series express chipset family
120gb harddrive

I use to play World of warcraft and the game ran fine now ive been looking into playing other games like Warhammer online but obviously this laptop is completely budget, warhammer online ran but with like 1 FPS and wasnt even playable my question is would upgrading to 4gb ram see a significant difference? i know the graphics 'chip' is reeeeally crap but they cant be changed

Everyone says the graphics chip on this laptop cannot be upgraded but i happen to work in electronics and i can remove and replace BGA chips which is what it is i believe so does that mean i could take it apart and change it myself?

though its probably easier to buy an old desktop and upgrade it myself!

thanks for any advice

Thanks was an intrresting site, i really want to know if upgrading to 4gb of ram will games run smoother or am i being too limited by the graphics chip

An extra Gb will help but you don't mention what O/S you are using, unless your running a 64 bit O/S as opposed to 32 bit you will not see much benefit sticking 4Gb in though it won't do any harm.

Being a desktop guy I am not familiar with laptop graphics cards but I see your laptop, click here comes with integrated graphics which would make upgrading it a challenge, to say the least.

Ahh sorry its windows vista 32 bit! Yeah the graphics is integrated chip and i doubt it will be possible to change! Ive got my eye on my parents desktop that could be used and upgraded though it is a bit old!
