Gaming problems Fear/Prey

I recently had a major problem with my PC which resulted in me having to reinstall most of the software. When i try and play games that before the crash worked perfectly i get a message saying the game has encountered a problem and has closed. these relate to
Kernel32.dll & openal32.dll
Any ideas how I sort this out

Reinstall DirectX it'll be on your game CDS and reinstall your graphics drivers.
I assume that when you say you had to reinstall most of your software you don't be windows as well, only reason I mention this is if you did you have to reinstall the motherboard drivers as well.

I tried updating the video card and directx but that hasnt worked.
My creative SB Audigy 2ZS appears to be playing up could that be the cause?

install game patches and see if that works. I played fear when it came out with no problems using what must now be an ancient driver.

yes it,s sound

kernall.32 is to do with mem managment
the openal.32 you mention is to do with sound
i wont go into too much detail as yet

try this
uninstall the audiogy
then reboot let windows find and install again a
try a game see if you get the same message if not it will be fine

IF YOU DO then reinstall the drivers from disk you got

again go in game and see if you recieve the same error

report back please

i have un installed Audigy and re-installed it as suggested prey is working fine so hopefully everything is sorted
