im looking to get a new laptop/notebook basically ive started geting into my RPG games now at home and cos of work i travel a lot i want to get a gaming laptop thats good enough to play games as well as a pc. Now the good thing is my company will pay for the laptop as ill use it for work and they gave me a budget of £1400 -£1500 i need the laptop to
play high graphic games well with out losing picture quality and be able to run and perform video editing (for my business work)
it has to be future proof so i can up grade it when it gets old including the graphics card
good memory about 100-120gb
light if possible

a guy in pc world said the sony vgn sz3hp would be perfect but im very suspecious as he didnt seem that knowledgeable
now some guys in my company have told me to go for a company called Alienware,Del, Rockl are the best for gaming laptops but i wanted to ask people who know this the best can anyone give me any ideas on what laptop is best, i have attached links reg the companys i have looked at. We cannot do what you ask. We cannot predict the future (as much as we would love to be able to). Prices change daily in the computing world. £1500 laptops now will be worth circa £700 - 800 in September or replaced by newer faster machines completely.

Laptop adapters is pointless to look at as they vary in price depending on what laptop you have. Power consumption and the power connector vary between laptops so while 99% of laptops can be probably be run off one of these there is still the chance you will end up with one that wont work on yours. Best to tell the IT department that you cannot do what they want just yet. Maybe come July or August. But not a hope in February.

Ok but if I was to purchase one now which would be best

I wouldn't have a laptop for games as they can't be upgraded. Better with a desktop.
However if I did have lots of money and wanted a gaming laptop I would look at Alienware first. They are expensive I must admit but are very good quality. And a lot of gamers swear by them.
I can't recommend any particular one really as I don't know enough about the graphics in laptops.

I just read what you said about the graphics. You want one you can upgrade the graphics on. I've only ever seen perhaps 2 or 3 with upgradeable graphics cards. One was a Dell and another was Alienware, I can't remember who made the other but it definatly cuts the choices down.

I had a look on the Alienware website and I couldn't find any upgradable graphics, hopefully someone else can assist with this.

"Why cant we help him?If i knew i certainly would."

To give a good example, I want to buy a car in 2008, it has to be 5 seats saloon. I have a budget of £16500. Can you advise me one? The answer is you can get a few ideas but who knows what will be on sale next year.

Totally-braindead is correct in that Alienware is a brand to look at. However most laptops cannot be upgraded in anything but the hard drive and ram department. Some laptops can have the graphics card upgraded however these are rare and often not machines worth talking about as they are not the best value for money.

Thanks all for that I know its difficult to ask because of its at an early stage, but know I now to look at Alienware ill take they laptop as something I can base around for September

Thanks all
