games compatibility

I have a 6400 x 2.13 ghz, 1.00 gb ram, 2 cpu, Windows Vista computer and I want to buy a PC SIMS game. Will it run with the above mentioned details?
Also, if a PC game says it is compatible with Windows NT or XP, does this mean it will not work with the new Vista?
As you can tell, am very pc illiterate.
Would v.much appreciate help.

...older programs [It even has trouble with some of the newer ones]. Because nobody knew the details of Vista when they were writing the games, they could not allow for its anomalies.
Vista can run some games and certain games manufacturers write patches for their games to be able to run on Vista.

This is just one of many such issues that have appeared recently...
