My C drice is 80% full. I have bought an external hard drive and transfered all my music and pics. is it possible to move program files??

what else can i move to the hard drive to free up some space

If you move program files they will not work as the registry will still look in the C drive for them

Hi, 80% full is way too much and you took the correct action in getting an external HDD.
What size is the C drive? Maybe a larger one would help speed up your PC. Leave at least 70% clear.

You don't mention which OS, but there are ways to clean your hard drive & you could recover a significant amount of space, e.g. click here.

Try for at least a 40-50% clear C: drive (70% may be too much to ask) & your laptop will be quicker for it. G

Ways to make more space.

Run cCleaner click here;1

---
If you don't use hibernation, disable it.
---
Delete old Restore points. Or delete them all, then make two new ones. (two because restore points are fickle)
---
Search c:\*.* and sort results by size. Look for large files (eg movies/big applications) that you no longer use/want. Delete/Uninstall.
Be careful though.
