ftp problem

I run xp pro Lately I'm unable to FTP to my website. The only thing I have down recently is install IE v.7 Anyone any idea what the problem could be

Have you tried to FTP from the Run command? If not, try that first to eliminate FTP Commander as the cause.

Click Start, Run, then type in your FTP in this manner with double ftp and space between:

ftp click here

and click OK. Then enter you email ID, press Enter, then insert your password and press Enter again. You should get a report on the space status of your site, confirming that you're connected to it.

what firewall are you using, it could be blocking the connection...

Go in to the IE7 advanced options and look at line "Use passive FTP"

Tick if unticked OR the reverse and see what happens.

Thanks to everyone. The trouble was down to the server not opening port 21. I've been away for some days so couldn't reply to your suggestions.
