Diagram manual page 19.

Apart from RE (reset), I am a bit confused distinguishing which is which. The descriptions (with positions on diagram) are:

GN (Green switch) Open normal operation/Close Entering green mode.

GD (Green LED) Pin 1 LED anode+ Pin 2 cathode-

HD (IDE Hard Disk Active LED) ditto

Forget speaker connection

RE (reser switch) OK

PW (Soft Power Connection) Open normal operation. Close Power On/Off

MPD (Message LED/Power/Sleep LED As reset above.

From the Case FP I have (apart from reset black/white):

M/B Switch (green and black)
HDD LED + orange - white
Power LED + green - white

Any ideas which are identified with diagram
e.g., reset is marked and I can fix that.
The Switch and LEDS I find confusing for example Green Switch and MPD, Green LED and MPD.

Many thanks for any replies

:)

Now that I seem to be getting somewhere with the PSU issue, the Front Panel Connections begin to loom!

Now the power question is sorted (adapter from Maplins) I need to connect the front panel switch. Any idea which cable it is or whether I might do any harm trying options?

The green mode switch/led are to manually enter a low power mode - if your case doesn't support that you can safely ignore these.

The soft power is the ATX on/off switch - pressed momentarily it will start the machine provided the power/PSU are switched on or initiate a shutdown of windows.

A general rule of thumb for the LEDs is that +ve is the non-black lead - it looks like you case fittings use white as common so I'd go with +ve is non white. The LEDs won't destroy anything if they're the wrong way round or stop anything from working as they just won't conduct so if they don't work just reverse them.

So
1)M/B Switch (green and black)=PW (Soft Power Connection)
2)Power LED + green - white=HD (IDE Hard Disk Active LED)
3)Power LED + green - white=MPD (Message LED/Power/Sleep LED)

Sorry - should have read:

1)M/B Switch (green and black)=PW (Soft Power Connection)
HDD LED + orange - white=HD (IDE Hard Disk Active LED)
3)Power LED + green - white=MPD (Message LED/Power/Sleep LED)

Jim_F

Many thanks again. Fan arrived this morning and I have temporarily connected 250W supply and made the connections you suggested. All working fine. I will refit Enermax when connector arrives from Maplin.

Many thanks again for your help on both threads.

:)

Thanks for the feedback - I'm glad its worked out for you.

I had once hoped that standard form factors for motherboards would make all this a lot easier - sadly now I know better :)
