something is wrong with my computer...the internet just freezes up abruptly regardless of whether i am using firefox or internet explorer. the only way to get it working again is to restart the computer. i think that the computer might be infected but all virus and antispyware scans reveal nothing. what to do?

If You are running XP then try the System File Checker with your XP disc in comp.

From Run SFC /SCANNOW

If you are using a site that deploys the Sun Java software, it can occasionally freeze up your system.

I find that emptying the Java cache generally releases my system when this happens.

If Sun Java is running (Coffe cup icon will be in the lower right of your task bar by the clock), right click on it, open console, and click the Clear tab.

Just a suggestion...
