Free online scan that works with Firefox!

  gazmix 20:19 26 Mar 2007

I have run AVG free edition & it found something it coldn't delete. I am looking for the best free online scan than is available with Firefox & hope it finds the same issue & it can be deleted!!

All seem to want IE 5 at least!

Is Firefox ignored by most online virus scans??

Can you name exactly what AVG can't delete?

I find that the free edition of AVG AntiSpyware discovers quite a few tracking cookies, for instance, but it won't delete a large number of them.

CCCleaner is far more effective.

Why can't you use Internet Explorer?

Wow, not only did Trend Micro work with Firefox it scanned my Linux box, the only thing it didn't find was the two test viruses I put on my machine to make sure the Linux AV is working, because I very rarely find anything. To be fair it's possible the Eclare test virus could be regarded as safe by Trend.

Interesting experiment.

You may be correct,do not quote me on this but i think the Panda and Trend online scanners have the biggest database and your test virus (Eclair) may well be deemed as ( Nothreat ) as you say regarded as safe.

Ive very little experience of Linux and possible AV's,i did tinker a month back with Linux if only to split the script of a driver, with no luck i may add.

Glad Trend worked for you ok,maybe its time to try those other online scanners one by one to see if it finds Eclair, though i doubt it.

Is there a specific reason why not IE ?

Whenever i try to get all the details from Trend it takes ages & has been running for hours.
I dunno if its scanning or just selectinng it don't say anywhere.
It says Extended select & check for vulnerabilities & thats it. & the 2 tv's att the bottom keep glowing!
Whats happening?
I get the trend micro, Security checks , check this computer for vulnerabilities!
Run port scan &
then next:- perform the selected checks!

It's still there the 2 t.v's in bottom corner!, like for 3 hours!
No result yet!
