Free Firewall - Not Zone Alarm

I've encountered problems with Zone Alarm. Is there any other free fire wall available please.

Looking forward to your responses.

There is a copy of Sygate on the March DVD of PC Advisor. But I've just been looking into the process of uninstalling Zone Alarm and it scares me witless. I know nothing about the Registry and the thought of going into it and the fatal mistakes I could make worries me.

My problems with Zone Alarm stem from when I updated it a few weeks ago. Last night when shutting down I received the message:

A fatal exception OE has occurred at 016F:BFF9DFFF press any key to terminate the current application. Press Cont. Alt. Delete again to restart your computer you will lose any unsaved information in all applications.

I was only trying to shut down my computer.

Question: Is there a safe way of uninstalling Zone Alarm and then installing Sygate. Or do I try and resolve these BSOD.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
