"To free up disc space Outlook Express can compact files....." This message comes up repeatedly at bootup even though I do not use Outlook Express and I have plenty of space anyway. I use Outlook for my e-mails and do not know why this should arise. Anyone know how to permanently remove the message?

Try resetting the compact count in the registry:

1. Start the registry editor.

2. Open this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{identity}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

where identity is a string of letters, numbers, and dashes.

3. Set the value of Compact Check Count to 0.

4. Close the registry editor.

Also do the followings:

1. delete all unnecessary files
2. make free your recycle bin
3. delete all temporary files
4. do the defragmentaion
