free codec for MP3 on media player 9

Would be easier to upgade to MP10, if that is an option..

thanks very much for your speedy replies I know MP10 would be easier but MP9 comes with so much junk I dread to think what MP10 will be like

will try the registry edit already have lame but I like microsofts way of filling in the info for you comes up nice and clear on my MP3 player

me again might have been a bit previous closing that subject (but have encoded the files I wanted using real player)I have regedit 5.1 and media player\settings\MP3Encoding is not there the closest to it is --media player\setup --any other ideas or am I missing something

checked these out first there is a fee for all of them which is fair enough(its only about $10) but I try to spread my credit card details out as little as poss and there are plenty of free progs that will do MP3 ripping(including MP10)I just liked the convenience of MP9

Go to this French site

click here

Download the fichier (883 kb)

and, once opened, double click setuplc3.exe

to get MP3 capablities in WMP.
On the same page,download the MP3.reg file which will edit the registry for you.

I used this for ages till I got WMP 11.
