FORMATTING HARD DISK - START UP DISK DOES NOT WORK

I wish to reformat the hard disk on my Windows 98 computer. I have two start up disks but neither of them will work with this computer and it will not let me make one with the Windows 98 CD.

How can I format the hard drive?

You can download a bootdisk from here:

The boot disk I have is OK but the machine ignores every floppy except Norton Antivirus Rescue disk. But even at the A: prompt I get a message when I try to format C that it is an bad command. Is there a way of doing it from inside Windows or are there any other suggestions.

or you could set the BIOS to boot from CD first then format from the CD
