Hi,

I wish to reformat a hard drive with two partitions before formatting it and re-installing XP Home SP2

If I just do a c:format/s and then a d:format I will stay with two partitions, which I don't want.

What is the magic for completly formatting the whole hard drive leaving just one partition please?

Just let windows XP do it for you when you re-install the operating system.

Boot from cdrom and when it gets to "D" for delete partition in setup, Delete both. Then rebuild with just one partition.

I don't know the exact answer to this question but I would download software from the maunfacturers website - They usually have software to do this type of thing for you.
My Maxtor drive certainly did have.

You would have two partitions showing at this stage. click here. High light one at a time and press D to delete the partition.

Windows re-install from click here

No problem.:-)

It is a great and easy way to merge or split a hard drive.
