My friend has installed XP Pro from an original disc, which is for a clean drive, on to a laptop with 98 and as the PC has a small HD she is finding it is getting full. 98 seems to be still there and the C prompt keeps coming up. She is wondering how to format C drive so as to start all over again. We have 2 other laptops with both floppies and USB pendrives. and startup disks for ME.
She has allowed her daughter to play on the PC and it,s full of junk etc so a clean start may also speed it up a bit.

Russell.

XP disk will have a utility to format the C drive before you install Windows onto it. Boot from the CD and choose a new install - you will then get the option of deleting any exisintg partitions which will completely remove any previous windows versions!
