Forgotton Excel Password

  Gordon999 15:49 02 Apr 2007

A colleague has protected an excel worksheet/book with a password which she has forgotton.

She has emailed it to me at my request because a quick search of the net revealed some supposedly free downloads to rectify this problem.

As you can imagine I do not want to purchase any program to do it. Does anyone know of any good free down loadable program that can unprotect the document and which actually work. The ones i've tried so far have failed in as far as they unprotect but then do show the document....Any help would be appreciated.

You could try click here

It really depends on what exactly she has password protected.

If you want me to have a go at it I can. I have some VBA code for finding worksheet (not workbook) passwords. I can't paste it here for obvious reasons. If you want me to try, click my yellow envelope to send me a message.

I found a method once that involved editing the file which worked - keep searching not just looking at tools but also other methods.
