Font management in Windows XP

On my previous PC running Win 95, I used a handy freeware utility called "The Font Thing", which allowed me to temporarily load fonts into windows for immediate use by programmes like Painter & PagePlus, without having to close then reopen the programmes to see the new fonts.

It seems that this is way out of date, with people reporting crashes when using it in Win XP.

Can anyone suggest an alternative - I use heaps of different fonts &don't want to slow downperformance by having them all installed permanently! freeware, sharewae or (gulp!) "commercial" suggestions welcome!

Thanks!

It seems as if nothing quite like The Font Thing exists, but I've also posted on a forum from your link, not havingbeen able to find a suitable programme on the site!

I'll post back here if anything exciting turns up!
