On the fly backup

A few years ago I used to use an Iomega Zip disk for my document backups using the software that came with the drive called Iomega quicksync, you could set it up to check your files at any given timeframe ie 1min 5 mins etc. after this time period it would automatically check for any changes and would back up any changed files with no user input.
The question is now that I use an external usb drive is there any software around that would do the same thing.
I have found a program called quicksync but it requires user input to work.

TIA

Back2zip will do it on the fly but I think the lowest setting is 20 minutes.
