Floppy No Show

  jack 15:03 13 May 2008

One of my flock has a new machine- Vista Home Premium
Word 2007 etc.
It also has a floppy drive, but the user cannot discover how to enable it.
No 'A' drive shows in My Computer/Desk top.

I have a suspicion that Vista does not support a Floppy and new machines are sold with no 'A' drive.
Is this so?
If so has the user got a half and half machine
As it is new I have suggested it should go back to vendor.
Or perhaps a suitable driver could be located
Any thoughts please.

Vista will see a Floppy drive its more likely the motherboard / BIOS does not in this modern age.

Make and model of machine? motherboard?

Check in Bios that the floppy drive is Enabled

I have a dell dimension E521, I have fitted a floppy on and i am running Vista. You have to press F8 on boot up and tell the PC to enable it. It is listed as a diskette
