Each time my computer starts, and error message pops up saying it cannot locate the floopy A: drive even though I haven't got one installed. Theres a floppy drive icon showing in 'My computer' too. This icon wasn't there a few weeks ago and I dont know why the computer is detecting a floppy drive.

can you guys advise on how to remove this error?

thankyou in advance.

Disable floppy in BIOS?

if there is going to be sometime when you may want to use the floppy
Check that your ide cable is not plugged in the wrong way round, take it out and reverse it then plug it back in,the other thing is the power connecter, it must be connected as well.
there is a strip on the ide cable which must be in line with the red wire on the power cable, depending on where it connects of course

Thanks for the advice.

I didnt think to look in Bios as I put together this system a few months ago and there was no problem.I thought it was an XP software problem.

Anyway, it has stopped popping up now and i'm glad!

uisquebeathus; thanks for the tip!
